Global Clubfoot Training: Africa Clubfoot Training (ACT) Online

This course introduces learners to the Ponseti Method of treatment for congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV), also known as clubfoot. It utilizes cutting-edge e-learning pedagogy to provide online training based on the highly acclaimed Africa Clubfoot Training (ACT) Basic/Level 1 provider training course. The ACT training course was developed from 2015 to 2017 through a health partnership project led by the University of Oxford, CURE Ethiopia Children’s Hospital, Cure Clubfoot (now Hope Walks), and Global Clubfoot Initiative, and funded by the UK Department for International Development / THET. The UK edition of this course is accredited in the UK by The Royal College of Surgeons of England.

ACT Online takes the learner through the concepts necessary to identify, assess, plan, and treat a patient under two years old with non-complex idiopathic clubfoot. The course includes videos and animations demonstrating proper technique, activities, and quizzes to assess learning, and an interactive 3D model of a clubfoot depicting the anatomy and manipulations for treatment. The materials presented in this course are for general guidance and may not be used for clinical or diagnostic purposes. The clubfoot treatment theory contained in this course needs to be complemented with supplementary instruction on the practical aspects covered in the ACT course, such as manipulation and casting, to qualify the learner to competently perform the Ponseti Method.
