  • Explain the physiologic rationale for pre‑oxygenation and apnea tolerance during RSI

  • Apply a safe, stepwise approach to medication selection and sequencing for RSI

  • Analyze airway anatomy and aspiration risk to determine when RSI should not be used

  • Evaluate risks associated with paralysis, cricoid pressure, and apnea during RSI and implement strategies to mitigate harm
