Evaluation and Treatment of Septic Shock

Learning Objectives
Identify clinical signs of septic shock that necessitate early airway evaluation and preparation for endotracheal intubation
Explain the physiologic rationale for securing the airway in pediatric septic shock, including reduction of work of breathing and oxygen consumption
Apply timely airway assessment and intubation readiness planning during the initial resuscitation of a child with septic shock
Analyze patient response to fluid resuscitation and vasoactive therapy to determine escalation to invasive airway management
Evaluate the risks and benefits of early intubation versus continued non‑invasive management in pediatric patients with evolving septic shock
