The Year in Review: 2013

Thanks in part to the support of our beta users, who provided great interest in and feedback about OPENPediatrics, the program has made considerable progress since its launch in 2012, and particularly over the last year. As 2013 comes to a close, we wanted to share with you the successes we have experienced over the past 12 months.

  • The program exceeded expectations for beta testing, as we have grown to encompass a community of users in over 80 countries
  • There have been over 6,500 logins to the application, and our educational videos have been viewed over 5,100 times
  • We have now hosted 10 World Shared Practice Forums that have been viewed over 2,600 times
  • OPENPediatrics and program director Dr. Jeffrey Burns won the MITx 2013 Visionary Award in June
  • Our staff was invited to present OPENPediatrics at seven conferences worldwide
  • The OPENPediatrics team has more than tripled in size since 2012
  • The program received awards from two donor families to develop curricula about non-accidental trauma and apology & disclosure

Over the past year we have truly begun to foster a global community of practice around the care of the critically ill child. Building on these accomplishments, we aim to increase the breadth of educational material available on OPENPediatrics in 2014 and continue to expand our community of active users. Our team remains committed to providing the best and most advanced platform for sharing medical knowledge and would like to express our sincere thanks for all of our collaborators and beta users' continued interest in OPENPediatrics. We look forward to continued collaborations and progress in 2014.
