Improving Outcomes in Pediatrics: Lessons Learned from Pediatric Sepsis with Thomas P. Shanley, MD

Dr. Thomas P. Shanley, Chairman of Pediatrics at Lurie Children’s Hospital, and Chief Research Officer at the Stanley Manne Research Institute, will talk about his experiences treating pediatric sepsis patients in the PICU. He also provides his strategy for successfully undertaking clinical challenges and improving patient outcomes.

Upon viewing this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the epidemiology of sepsis and its impact on the global pediatric population
  • Understand the pathophysiology of sepsis
  • Apply the Iterative Cycle of Discovery to different clinical challenges
  • Identify a patient population besides pediatric sepsis patients who would benefit from the use of a panel of inflammatory biomarkers
