March 2020 Physician WSP: The Pediatric Critical Care Transfusion and Anemia Expertise Initiative (TAXI)

In this World Shared Practice Forum, Dr. Scot Bateman and Dr. Stacey Valentine discuss the Transfusion and Anemia eXpertise Initiative (TAXI) guidelines for red blood cell (RBC) transfusion practices in critically ill children. They discuss the process of developing expert consensus, guide viewers through the clinical practice recommendations, and highlight areas for future work in this important area.

 

Dr. Scot Bateman is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) Medical Center, and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. 

Dr. Stacey Valentine is an Associate in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) Medical Center, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
