Nursing WSPF August 2019: Parent Education Discharge Instruction (PEDI) Program

Originally screened in 2015, Dr. Sandra Staveski, PhD, RN, CPNP-AC, discusses her involvement with the development and implementation of the Parent Education Discharge Instruction (PEDI) Program, which was first used in India. Dr. Staveski will describe how the PEDI Program is used, the effects this tool has had on patient outcomes after cardiac surgery, and how this program has helped to empower nurses.





Following this presentation, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe how and why the PEDI Program was developed
  • Explain results from following the implementation of the PEDI Program in Indian hospitals
  • Understand how the program as helped to empower nurses
  • Appreciate the importance of quality parent education and the role it plays in improving patient outcomes
  • Access and use the PEDI Program in their institutions
