March 2019 Nursing WSPF: Clinical Effectiveness Committee: A Catalyst for Improving Patient Care

Join us for the next Nursing World Shared Practice Forum on March 19, 2019. 

In this video, Sharon Kinney, PhD, MN, a Nurse Consultant in Research at Royal Children's Hospital and a Nursing Senior Lecturer at The Melbourne School of Health Sciences, will discuss her role in the development of a Clinical Effectiveness Committee to improve clinical nursing guidelines, implementation of Medical Emergency Teams (MET) in clinical practice, the use of ViCTOR observation tracking charts to help determine when to call for MET, and the effectiveness of these resources in improving patient outcomes.

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how clinical nursing guidelines can help to support the nurse at the bedside 
  • Define the role of MET in clinical practice   
  • Explain how ViCTOR observation tracking charts were developed and how this tool helps to define the appropriate time to call for MET
  • Describe the effectiveness of the MET system in improving clinical outcomes
