This chapter of the Rwandan National Neonatal Protocol covers neurology. Dr. Febronie Mushimiyamana discusses treatment, medication, and management of neonatal neurological injury. She focuses on treatments for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, seizures, pain management, and appropriate use of anticonvulsant medication. By the end of the chapter, participants will be able to:

-Identify appropriate temperature for newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)

-Explain the diagnosis and management procedures for seizures

-Identify dangerous side effects of anticonvulsant medications

-Identify treatments for pain associated with minor and major procedures
